the japanese culture is a great thing. anime, j-pop, pocky, there's all sorts of good things that come out of japan. things of beauty.

UNTIL THE WHITE PEOPLE COME IN AND FUCK IT UP!

i am really tired of hearing non-japanese people walk around saying "OHAYO, EMILY-CHAN!!". this is america. we speak english here. and you sound retarded.

now, speaking fangirl-japanese is one thing, and wearing DBZ shirts is another. now i will move on to:

why white people cosplaying should be punishable by law. )

Atlanta. [ Oct   8th   @   12:10pm

[ mood | bored ]

alright yeah remember when i did that guide to quebec last year? i'm not really sure why it takes me a few months after the actual trips to get these written up buUUUT too bad. thus begins

MK'S GUIDE TO GETTING THROUGH A DAY WITH 2 HOURS OF SLEEP
uh
MK'S GUIDE TO ATLANTA

DAY ONE
alright uh skip a few hours of which we were sitting in school waiting til we could leave for atlanta. the thing that made this a really shitty wait was having a full block of study hall RIGHT before we had to leave.

after school, we all went down to the senior high entrance, waited for the buses with our parents. after we hugged our parents goodbye and shit, we got on the buses, and met our busdrivers.. bus 3 had walllyyyyyy, the best fucking bus driver ever. (c'mon none of the other bus drivers were giving out candy NOW WERE THEY??)
ya see that guy turning facing the camera guy? yea... that's my dad. and under that picture is WALLLYYYY! )

so we drove for a longass time through this nice highway past dansville that was all hilly and tree-y, i thought we were gonna go flying off the road (big bus on narrow highway is bad). and drove and drove and drove, we stopped at this nice rest place somewhere in either new york or pennsylvania with a nice outlook of some...river. we stopped at a mall at some point in somewhere (really i had no fucking clue what state we were in most of the time), i had to steal some people's pizza cause i didn't wanna wait in line =| then we drove and drove and drove some more... 'til we got to some hotel somewhere, found our rooms and went to sleep.
us at some highway stop )

+ we passed a gas station called sheetz and it made everybody giggle
- laura byzime was really neurotic and bitchy the entire ride there

DAY TWO
this day consisted of more bitchass driving. the breakfast was gay, sitting on the bus for a zillion hours was also gay. i think we stopped somewhere in north carolina for lunch, i got pizza from these guys who accused me of not paying even though i had. subsequently they were the only guys who could speak english out of all the stores in the food court.

ya.. then we stopped at ANOTHER mall (which was really huge to boot) to eat, where i bought a waterbottle to hold me over for supper. aaand... after that we continued to drive drive drive until we got to atlanta around 11pm. of course the teachers wouldn't let us off the bus immediately, and once we did haul all our 16 tons of luggage inside the hotel, we found out that there was ONE elevator... and only 8 people are allowed in at a time. now divvy that up between 200 some students and adults and a million-something floors..

? white people are a minority in atlanta
+ there were mexicans working at the chinese restaurant in one of the malls. =)
- i have no pictures for this day which means this day sucked

DAY THREE
this was our big performance day. we had to get up at some ungodly time (3:40am anyone? ya ps: our bus hadn't gotten in until midnight the night before which means i went to bed at 1, you do the math.) so ya we drove there to this nice arts + theater place. well whoopee for my band, we got to go first at 7 motherfucking a.m. we apparently did quite well on our performance (with the exception of the slight slip up in shadowfax... how we WEREN'T penalised for that, the world may never know) they had three judges with very heavy southern accents (informing devon she had a "LEEEEEETLE claranat") come up to tell us what we did wrong. the wind ensemble, jazz band, choir, concert choir and singing saints went after that, we had to sit through all those performances but it wasn't so bad. whoever said churchville had one of the best music programs out there was right...
aand here is the symphonic band in all it's 7am glory and the show choir because they were good. )

after the performances we got back on the busses and headed on over to the cnn building. when you first come in it's nothing really special, just an area sectioned off with (yet more) fast food restaurants. dev and i weren't hungry so we bought candy from a bookstore =] looking up from there you can see all the offices. after awhile we finally got to tour around, we watched a bit of them broadcasting (this was the day the pope was sick or dead or something so they were pretty busy). from there we went to the centennial park, which is a really pretty area in the center of the city with a bunch of fountains and bricks that had people's names on it. the bricks were cool to look at (we found one that said "marry me" somewhere)
group in cnn tower + centennial park, gotta love the unintentional color coordination )

aaaaaand after thaaat, we had to go to some gay awards ceremony. everyone had to dress up and shit and there was dancing... and uh... awards... it was slightly disappointing after finding out it wasn't a real competition, just something they judged us on (we recieved all superiors, the highest award you can get, except for the chorus, which i guess is good. it was gay though because the other group from pennsylvania won the exact same awards). there was a lot of drama that night BUT MOVING ON
in which i actually wore a dress )

+ hot tour guides at cnn
- DRAMA
- getting sick on the way to cnn (what a great time to forget medication)

DAY FOUR
this was the best day out of the trip. we got up at a reasonably sane hour to go to the very top floor for breakfast which had a nice outlook of the city. some nice lady let us use the staff elevator and i went back to rachael's room, then to the gift shop... then we left to go to the coke factory. when we got there, it, of course, STARTED SNOWING (okay really since when does it snow in atlanta in march? only when churchvillians are there, that's when!) we got this corny tour of the factory; it wasn't really fun until we got to sample the coke products from around the world (the stuff from kenya was good.. then there was beverly and that shit from china which tasted like ear wax and cough syrup, respectively) then we bought a shitload of stuff from the gift shop.
group shot outside the coke factory )

from there we went to atlanta underground, a weird assortment of shops and restaurants. devon and i went into this store that was a knockoff of claire's owned by some weird indian guy. devon tried to buy earrings and the guy started asking us if these were for prom night. whaat.. yea anyway, we left there and went through a bad part of atlanta to get to six flags. some little kid kept following and waving to our bus so we all waved back =)

then we were at six flags!! after finding our way to the must needed rest stops we went on some weird g-force ride (at the time i was scared shitless of rollercoasters, so this was the most 'extreme' thing i could do). then we went on this gay ride for little kids where you sit in canoes and go through a tunnel that's full of weirdass monster things. then devon and i got lunch... at some point we'd gone over to the whack a mole game thing and played a few people, in which devon and i beat their asses. then dee lost her cellphone so we went the remainder of the night trying to find that. thenn we found everyone else, and proceeded to dance to the gayass venga boys song they played every 30 seconds for an hour while we waited to leave.
best. ride. ever.  )

+ our purple tigers =D
- kathy growing increasingly more neurotic (as if it wasn't bad enough already) "FUCKING PICK UP YOUR FUCKING PHONE"

DAY FIVE
instead of writing about this day i am just going to list reasons why it sucked:

- waking up to a loud noise figuring it was someone slamming their door
- waking up late again
- morgan telling us as we get on the elevator that someone was shot
- getting to the ballroom floor to find everyone saying someone was shot
- finding out there was a driveby at 4.30
- everyone upset by the driveby
- THAT STUPID GODDAMN FUCKING WALKIE TALKIE
- having to sit in the front
- all the thruways being closed in new york cause it was rainy
- taking backroads that the bus drivers weren't 100% sure of where they lead to
- getting home at 8am ON MONDAY!
- being sick
- my cellphones died (battery efficient my ass)

so there you have it. though this probably wasn't the greatest trip i've ever taken in my life it had it's good points. and for a lack of a better way to close this... GET OUT NOW

i don't really see the point of people switching their names all the time when they wind up going back to the originals anyway

it's sort of disheartening to go through my buddy list on aim and find that i have 31 screennames of the same person

speaking of which i'll probably be back on my old name next week because, quite frankly, you are gay.

here is a picture of an asian man to throw you off guard
